About this activity
The "magic hour" from sunset until the first star appears. Watch the sky melt from sunset orange into deep indigo in the clear mountain air, and find the first star over Mt. Sanbe.
About "Starry Sky Lift on Mt. Sanbe" A special night run of the chairlift (about 15 min) plus a 5-minute walk takes you to the summit of Mt. Ohira. From the 854 m viewpoint, enjoy the sunset, moonrise, starry sky and a 360° panorama — welcome to nature's planetarium.
Season: April–November, twice a month on Saturdays (about 16 times a year) Twilight time (magic hour) = roughly 20 to 50 minutes after sunset

Times (November)
- Lift starts 17:30 (last boarding at the base 19:00 / last ride down from the summit 19:30)
- Online booking closes at 17:30 on the day. Please arrive in time for the last boarding at the base (19:00).
- On cloudy days when the stargazing talk is cancelled, last boarding up is 19:30 and the last ride down is 20:00.
Notes / what to wear and bring
- Please use the Higashinohara parking lot. The lift station is about a 3-minute walk.
- There are no toilets at the summit. Please use the public toilets next to the parking lot beforehand.
- The summit is 854 m high and about 2–3°C colder than the lowlands. Please bring a warm jacket.
- The lift ride takes about 15 minutes, followed by about a 5-minute walk to the summit. Please wear comfortable shoes.
- If you miss the last lift down from the summit, we may treat it as a missing-person case and contact the police.

Cancellations are accepted until the event start time (17:30) on the day. No cancellation fee is charged even for cancellations for personal reasons. *Please cancel your booking yourself. However, if you do not show up without notice, 100% of the fee will be charged. The decision to hold or cancel the event is made at 13:00 on the day, based on the Weathernews forecast for Sanbe-cho, Oda City, Shimane.
