About this activity
A guided tour of a wasabi farm normally closed to the public, with a lunch featuring "wasabi rice."
In the Sanbe area of Daisen-Oki National Park in Oda City, Shimane — blessed with abundant spring water — wasabi has been grown since the Edo period. It is one of Japan's leading areas for native wasabi, and varieties bred from it are grown in famous wasabi regions across the country. On this tour, Mr. Kageyama of Kajika Farm, who grows Shimane's native wasabi, will guide you around the farm and talk about wasabi and his daily work.
Flow (about 2 hours 30 minutes)
- After check-in and a briefing, walk to the wasabi field (park nearby, change into rubber boots and walk about 5 minutes)
- Prepare the rice (wash-free rice cooked in a gas pot; participants help a little)
- Tour the wasabi field (about 40 min) — an ultimate healing space of spring water and dappled sunlight
- Wasabi rice lunch in the wasabi field (about 60 min) — grate freshly harvested wasabi yourself and put as much as you like on freshly cooked rice

- Our special wasabi rice (Sanbe rice cooked on site, topped with local Sea of Japan ita-wakame seaweed and sardine flakes, with carefully selected soy sauces from Hara Shoyu and Nakagiya Honten)

- Shunkoen Sanbe Highland tea (roasted wild herb tea made from kawarakesumei)
- and people drip coffee (brewed with Sanbe spring water)

About bookings
- After you book, our staff will contact you to confirm the details. If we cannot meet your request due to weather or farm conditions, we will cancel and give a full refund.
- You can choose to pay online (credit card) when booking, or pay on the day at the venue (cash or PayPay).
Conditions Held rain or shine. Please bring rain gear. A tent is set up for the meal. The wasabi field has loose stones and slippery spots. The site is kept in its natural state, so footing is uneven in places.
Notes
- There are no toilets on site. Please use one before meeting.
- If you have food allergies, please consult us in advance. We will accommodate as much as possible.

If you do not show up without notice, 100% of the fee will be charged. The tour is held rain or shine. If the organizer cancels due to natural disasters or bad weather, no cancellation fee is charged (travel costs to the venue are not covered). If the tour is cancelled, the organizer will contact you by the day before. The plan may change at the organizer's discretion.
Choose advance or on-site payment at confirmation. Advance payments are refunded according to the cancellation policy. For on-site payment, the operator will bill cancellation or no-show fees according to the cancellation policy.
